Susan Berry MA; BSc(Hons); PG Dip
I am an experienced psychotherapist registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
A personal crisis in my own life began my own conscious inner journeying and first experience of therapy. This led to my decision to train as a counsellor myself, gaining a Post-Graduate Diploma, and then to further train as a psychotherapist, gaining a Masters Degree. All my training was at The Psychosynthesis and Education Trust (PET) in London. This core training was in Psychosynthesis; a holistic and integrative model where body, mind, emotion and spirit are all valued as integral parts of what it is to be human.
Since this initial training I have completed numerous Continuous Professional Development hours in diverse subjects such as: working with trauma, CBT, mindfulness practice, working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse, attachment, poetry in the therapy room, art and creativity as a therapeutic tool, grief work… and many more. Most recently I participated in a week-long conference on Forgiveness at the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland. I now consider myself as a transpersonal and integrative therapist able to draw on many years of practice and experience with numerous diverse clients.
I am currently training as a supervisor with the Centre for Supervision and Team Development (CSTD) with Joan Wilmot and Robin Shohet. As part of my ethical practice I receive regular supervision for my therapeutic work.
I have had many hours of therapy myself both to meet training requirements and also for continuing personal and spiritual growth. I have experienced several modes of therapy: Psychodynamic, Psychosynthesis, Gestalt, Body Psychotherapy, Core Process Psychotherapy. I also make regular retreats.
I am experienced in leading groups. I have worked as an Essentials trainer at PET and as a leader of ‘Journey into Healing’ residential weekends.
Most recently I have started a group in Winchester focusing on spirituality and the awakening of the soul called “Inner Journey, Outer Journey”.
